This South West Women’s League game started at a frantic pace with both teams having spells of possession.

Weston Mendip came close to opening the scoring, but it was the visitors who struck first on 15 minutes after Mendip failed to clear their lines.

The home team responded and three minutes later Amy Clark burst down the right, her cross finding Sherise Binns to sidefoot home from inside the box.

Play was end-to-end and an Alphington through ball found Mary Murphy and she slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.

Finding themselves behind, Mendip again responded a good run and cross from Binns found Ellie Orritt whose shot bounced off the Alphington keeper and Tash Crew reacted quickly to level once more.

Weston Mendip had more control of the game and deserved to take the lead when a Binns cross found Clark who struck the ball home sweetly from the edge of the box.

With minutes to go a hopeful punt sailed over the Mendip keepers head giving the visitors an unexpected equaliser.

The PD&CL Building Services girl of the game was Amy Clark.

Next week, Weston Mendip travel to Weston, who are just two points below Mendip in the table.
