Worle defeated top of the table Yatton and Cleeve to keep up their own promotion push.

Worle travelled to play against top of the league Yatton and Cleeve and returned with all three points.

Worle started the game on the attack and created numerous chances penning the opposition into their own half, but could not capitalise on their dominance and before long found themselves defending as Yatton pushed forward.

The second half started with Worle struggling to maintain possession. Eventually a superb pass from Callum McManus found Tom Adams in Yatton’s box and was brought down resulting in a penalty.

Ryan Hodrien showed good composure to take the penalty and score, giving Worle a 1-0 lead.

The game continued with Yatton and Cleeve launching the ball forward and Worle’s back line of Simon Hudson, Elliot Nelson and Conner Down preventing Yatton’s forward line from scoring an equaliser.

John Parker, Barry Flynn, Jack Hodrien, Jason Potter and Callum McManus kept battling in the midfield and managed to get the ball forward to create more chances.

Both sides brought on fresh players to try and win the game, but Worle’s defence held firm for the remainder of the match and all players showed fighting spirit to hold on to their lead.

Tom Adams ran himself in to the ground and all players put in a great effort to see the game out.
