Uphill Badminton Club took part in a summer five-a-side friendly match against the Avon squad.

Uphill Badminton Club and the Avon squad took part in a summer men’s five-a-side friendly.

The Uphill team of Paul Edwards, Matt Cole, Mark Edwards, Billy Fear and Luke Morgan all blew off a few cobwebs in a first serious hit since the end of the winter season.

The night started well with Uphill taking three of the first four, with Paul and Matt in good form. Avon hit back to level at four each and after 12 games it was still level at six each.

The next round saw Uphill edge 9-7 ahead with Mark and an injured Morgan winning in two. Matt and Luke went down 14 and 15 to level things again at 9-9.

The final rubber saw Paul and Billy start slowly, going down 18-21 before finding form to take the last 21-15 and ensure the overall match score ended 10-each.

Further matches will take place in August as preparations for the new season hot up.

New members are always welcome, both beginners or more experienced league players.
