Two pairs from Splitz Gymnastics Club picked up gold medals at the South West Acrobatic Championships.

SPLITZ gymnasts enjoyed a busy two weekends competing in the South West Acrobatic Championships held in Sherborne and Taunton.

Medal winners were: Maisie Carter and Kyra Bonner (gold); Abel Luke and Archie Pickles (gold); Abel Luke and Sophia Harvey Bennett (silver); Isabelle Murphy, Storm Ingram, Chloe Reyes (bronze); Sam Middleton and Daisy Hooper (bronze); Daisy Hooper and Mae Li Pang (fourth); Ellie Mae Shearer, Amy Green and Mae Li Pang (fourth).

Other competing gymnasts were: Taylor Drewer, Eleanor Green, Lottie Barns, Harley Richards, Roxxi Crandon, Emma Bryne, Mia Pickett, Erin Madge, Kayleigh Down, Chili Harling and Alannah Taylor.

ABEL Luke, a gymnast at Splitz Gym Club has become the third best tumbler in the country, after winning the South West Tumbling and the semi-final in Peterbough to compete at the finals in Telford against the best in the country.

Abel performed three fantastic tumbles to also gain the highest mark out of all competitor’s for his last run.

He was presented the bronze medal in a ceremony of lights and music that made his parents and coach very proud.

Abel also competes at acrobatic gymnastics and won the gold medal in pairs the previous week.

The next tumbling competition is later in the year, where the club will be entering more than 25 gymnasts.
