Troy triumphs at Burnham & Berrow medal

PUBLISHED: 09:41 24 June 2016 | UPDATED: 09:41 24 June 2016

Burnham & Berrow Golf Club member Troy Crandon won the latest medal competition by just one shot.

Troy Crandon rediscovered some form last Saturday to win the June medal at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club with a nett 69, one shot ahead of Tim Bowden in second place with a 70.

Division two resulted in a tie between Mark Parsons and Mark Woods with 68s. Parsons took the honours after a countback, helped by Woods who made an expensive eight at the par five 13th hole.

Dave Stacey won the Channel Course Stableford with 42 points, one ahead of Janice Truscott.

It was a case of girl power on Sunday with girls occupying the first three places in the Juniors Hatcher Cup.

Jess Haines reduced her handicap once again after a nett score of 68 to take the trophy from Leah Bowden in second place and Millie Jones in third.

The junior girls’ section at Burnham & Berrow has flourished in the past year or so, with a number of promising juniors representing at county and national level.

Harriot Lockley, who has represented Wales Under-14s, won the European qualifier of the US Kids Golf tournament in Scotland a couple of weeks ago and Mimi Rhodes represented England girls’ Under-16s against Spain in Madrid in May.

Results - June medal – T Crandon 69; T Bowden 70; D Pearce 71; P Hucker 71; R Rossiter 72. Division 2: M Parsons 68; M Woods 68; N French 72; S Seymour 73; M Palmer 74.

Channel Stableford: D Stacey 42 pts; J Truscott 41; J England 39; M Barton 39. Nine-hole: C Stargatt 37; T Dymond 31; P Lavis 28.
