Weston Tennis Club held a junior tournament, sponsored by Glentworth Lettings.

Weston Tennis Club were delighted to hold a Glentworth Lettings junior tournament and the event was attended by junior members and was well supported by their families.

The standard of play was impressive and matched by the excellent spirit in which the matches were played.

The Under-10 event was contested on a round-robin basis with six competitors playing each other in a champions tie break to 10 points.

There were some excellent performances throughout with the impressive Marcus Llewellyn coming through to play the athletic Louie Bush Evans in the final.

The final itself was a great match with both players tactically building the points with some long rallies and resulted in Louie winning 10-5.

The Under-14 event was played in a similar format and again produced some fine tennis. A special mention must be made of Henry Bush Evans who just missed out on a semi-final place after showing some real fighting spirit throughout his matches.

The two finalists were Connor Mobsby and the talented 11-year-old Alessia Jiga. The final lived up to expectations with some fantastic points being played. It was the hard-hitting youngster Alessia, who came through to win a full set and the match 6-3.

The Under-18 Glentworth Trophy event, named after the club’s sponsors, Glentworth Lettings Ltd, saw six players produce some excellent performances in the round-robin matches.

The fast improving Joshua Watts just missed out on a semi-final place along with the tenacious Oscar Byles. The finalists were the spirited Ben Insley and the previous year’s runner up the impressive Jonathan Evans. It was Jonathan who prevailed 6-2.

The trophies were presented by head coach, Jamie Allen and Darren Clapp, managing director of Glentworth Lettings Ltd, who generously sponsored the event.

Jamie holds regular junior sessions throughout the week. For more information, please contact Jamie on 07790 937448 or view the club website at westontennis.net
