A LOCAL team of windsurfers is flying high after a great season that saw them take top spots in the national rankings and push their windsurfing to new levels.Team AirBorn, a group of three boys aged 17 and 18, windsurf together at various locations in the South West, including Burnham, Weston and Axbridge. They compete at events all over the British Isles in the freewave category, which takes in both freestyle and wave sailing disciplines. The team is comprised of Graham Woods of Bridgwater, who took first place in the UKWA youth rankings for 2006, George Shillito of Stone Allerton who took third place, and Adam Lewis of Taunton.Adam spent five months teaching windsurfing at a high-wind resort in Egypt, so he missed most of this year's UK events but has returned with a formidable array of new freestyle tricks - and a great tan.Graham said: "I won the juniors last year, so I'm delighted to have won again this year, having moved up to the youths. Working as a team with the other guys makes all the difference - and turns long journeys to places like Tiree in the Hebrides into a laugh. We take our windsurfing pretty seriously, but have a lot of fun along the way".While most people have been cursing the recent wild weather, the team has been out there loving it.
