The third round of the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club Championships at the Mansell Raceway was abandoned because of heavy rain.
THE third round of the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club Championships took place recently at the Mansell Raceway in atrocious weather conditions.
Thirteen-year-old Sam Stephens was out on track on the Saturday practice day setting some competitive lap times, despite the challenging conditions.
On race day, the rain was torrential for most of the morning during the qualifying heats, but the track conditions deteriorated to such an extent that driving became too hazardous and the races were called off in the afternoon.
The points were calculated at that stage and Sam was awarded third place overall, ensuring he is still in a good position to win the championship in the Minimax class this year.
Sam is grateful for current support from Worle Autos, Barber Company and Demon Tweeks. However, any further offers of sponsorship would be most welcome to enable Sam to continue his racing career. All enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org
The next round of the championship takes place on May 27 and live timing can be followed on www.dunkeswellkartclub.co.uk
