Wedmore racing driver Ryan Cullen is aiming for a top-six finish in his first season in the Porsche GT3 German Cup.

Wedmore’s’s Ryan Cullen is aiming for a top-six finish in his first season in the Porsche GT3 German Cup after a successful outing at Austria’s Red Bull Ring.

The 25-year-old racing driver qualified 11th in a field of 34 cars at the Austrian track and then fought his way through the pack to finish in fifth place – his highest of the season. Cullen was also the top driver for his Race Union Team Huber outfit.

Cullen is taking part in both the Germany Cup and the Porsche Carerra Mobil1 SuperCup this season. And with the SuperCup due to take place at the Red Bull Ring in June, many drivers took the chance to use the Germany Cup as a dry run for the event.

Cullen said: “With so many cars on the grid it was a bit tricky, but I was really pleased with the way that I performed even though I was blocked badly during qualifying.

“I’m hoping now that I can use this as a launch pad for the second half of the season. This is a really competitive series and there are some seriously fast drivers in the Germany Cup so it has taken me a little while to get to grips with what is needed to succeed.

“But now I’m looking to finish in the top six in the Germany Cup and think that is a realistic goal given the way that I performed in Austria.”
