Sam Stephens finishes on the podium for the third time in a row.

TWELVE-year-old Sam Stephens was back on the podium once again in the third round of the Dunkeswell kart racing championships, making it three times in a row for the Worle School student.

On the Saturday practice day at the Mansell Raceway, Sam was on great form and the kart ran smoothly with some excellent lap times.

On race day, Sam was in pole position for the first heat, but came in a disappointing fifth place. Sam battled thoughout the day to finish fourth in heat two and fifth in heat three.

However, after changing the clutch it all came together for Sam at the right time. As a consequence of the earlier heats, Sam started fifth on the grid in the final and drove a terrific race to claw his way up to finish second behind the 2010 Minimax champion. Sam has had a fantastic start to the 2011 season finishing in second place in the first three rounds of the championship.

Sam is still chasing the elusive top of the podium and would appreciate any offers of further sponsorship, however small. Enquiries to deb.stephens@sky.com Thanks go to Worle Autos, Barber co and Demon Tweeks.
