Vets’ Peter Butterworth with three wins, conceded games to Mike Baker and Dave Hunt. Roger Crump, also three, lost two games to Baker and one to Hunt.

Rob Hansen won one of Rebels’ points with a hard fought game against Colin Lewis, taking the set 12-10 in the fourth. The doubles also went to five tough games, Crump and Butterworth were 8-0 up in the fifth game, but saw the game slip away with Hunt and Hansen taking it 8-11.

In Division 2, despite Vets C having a full team, they had their work cut out against two-man Winsc Wayfarers, just winning by 19-17. Rich Parker with three singles just kept ahead of Vets’ John Barcham in five and Roger Norville in four.

Phil Yates beat Norville in four, losing to Treasure and Barcham, but the Wayfarers had the satisfaction of taking the doubles against Mark Treasure and Barcham.

Beth Atkinson and Hannah Cope gave the Cobras’ players a run for their money, but the experience of the older players saw them home to a 26-11 victory.

There was another close result between two evenly matched teams, Totterdown Flamingos just edging clubmates Daemons 20-18. Graham Cheeseman took three straight games for Flamingos. Bert Hiscock and Jason King were equal top for Daemons, both conceding games to Flamingos’ Nigel Andrews.

Trevor Williams with some close games, took the second game against Hiscock. The doubles went 3-2 to Flamingos confirming their match win.

Two Group A Archdale Cup matches saw the strong Rebels team over come Banwell youngsters 7-2.

The Banwell team fared better against Totterdown Flamingos, Hannah Cope (15) won all her matches, beating Graham Cheeseman (3) in two, Andrew Cheeseman (17) and Lyudmilla Cronin (17) in two. Banwell won 7-2.
