Shiplate Farm Fisheries Hawthorns Lake record was smashed by Lewis Jones, who caught a massive 243 7ozs from the venue.

Lewis Jones broke the Shiplate Farm Fisheries Hawthorns Lake match record with a massive 243lb 7oz weight from peg 11.

Second was Dom Sullivan (peg 5), with 123lb 12oz and third was Steve Howell (peg 13), 107lb 12oz.

The Thursday Costcutter was won by Ray Wickham on peg two with 95lb. He says he is a silvers angler, but he obviously knows how to catch carp too.

Gary Flinders (peg 12), 87lb was second and Alan Quantrill (peg 15), 75lb 13oz came third. Silvers went to Mike Jones (peg 1), 23lb 15oz.

The three-day festival over the bank holiday weekend was won by Mark Wynne with a total weight of 489lb. He was followed by Julian Pinkett (194lb 2oz), Ritchie Hawkins (224lb), Russ Peck (180lb 1oz) and Steve Howell (164lb 8oz).

Some renown anglers in the fishing world and TV presenter and fisherman Keith Arthur kindly gave their time and energies to fish a pairs match on the Main Lake at Shiplate Farm Fishery.

The match was inspired by Fishomania previous winner and this year’s runner-up, Steve Jackson. Afterwards, the anglers enjoyed a barbecue supplied by the fishery and a raffle donated by kind suppliers and well wishers.

A total of over £1,496 was raised for Clic Sargent. Thank go to all who donated, attended and worked to achieve this fantastic amount.

The winning pair were Steve Jackson and local angler Steve Howell with a total weight of 193lb 4oz. Runners-up were Bill Hopping and Jaimie Cook, followed Adie Bishop and Charlie Haliday.
