Somerset defeated North Midlands 46-24 to finish third in the Bill Beaumont County Championship.

Somerset finished third in their campaign of the Bill Beaumont County Championship, running in eight tries to defeat North Midlands 46-24 at Taunton.

Both local clubs were well represented, Hayden Tuttiett, Huw Morgan, Dan Spelman, Marcus Nel, Ramaz Rukhadze and Robbie Mackay from Weston and Rob Dempsey, Charlie Carter and Matt Denton from Hornets.

Mackay with two tries, Nel, man of the match Rukhadze and Spelman were among the try scorers with Carter converting three.

If Somerset can retain the nucleus of the squad featured in this game, plus encouraging other players to join their ranks, they have the makings of a strong outfit next season.
