Successful primary school tournament held at Weston

Thirteen primary schools from North Somerset attended a tournament held at Weston Rugby Club.

A total of 13 primary schools from North Somerset were invited by Weston Rugby Club mini and junior section to compete in the tournament.

It was divided into two age groups - years three and four making up one team and years five and six the second.

The matches played throughout the afternoon and the schools competed to win, either the shield, plate or cup.

Results - years three and four - Plate: Uphill Primary; Shield: Sandford Primary; Cup: Bournville Primary. Years four and five: Locking Primary; Sandford Primary; Worlebury Primary.

Schools entered: Ashbrooke House, Bournville Primary, Herons Moor Academy, Locking Primary, St Mark’s Primary, Sandford Primary, St Anne’s Primary, St Georges Primary, Uphill Primary, Windwhistle Primary, Worle Village Primary, Worlebury Primary and Winscombe Primary.

The tournament was a great success, allowing some student the chance to play rugby for the first time. The event was open to both boys and girls and was played in the sunshine.

Anyone who would is interested in getting involved in mini/junior rugby, training is at 10am every Sunday at Weston, open to both boys and girls.
