A self-defence club based at Swet FA in Sunnyside Road, Weston, has tasted success on the world stage with several world champions among their ranks.

Asia Budo Centre UK - Self Defence Academy focuses on self defence, the way of karate, kajukenbo, krav maga, special forces style/military police and is an official member of ASMAA – UK All Styles Martial Arts Association, ICKKF/International Karate Kenpo Federation, and WAC World All Styles Championship Federation.

President and head instructor of the Academy is Sigung Miroslav Danihel 5th degree black belt. Karate instructor is Sensei Zaneta Polakova 1st degree black belt.

Miroslav and Zaneta along with their assistant instructors: Chris, Martin, Filip and Veronika, successfully take care of ABC students.

Since 2014, the club has achieved great success in the world martial arts field, with Miroslav and Zaneta multiple world champions.

The students enjoyed great success at the All Styles World Championship too. Held in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, the club have brought back two gold medals, four silver and five bronze medals.

This brings the total to four former and current world champions at the club: Sigung Miroslav Danihel 2014; Sensei Zaneta Polakova 2014, 2016; Filip Baranik 2017; and Lukas Cikovsky 2017.

Other medal winners this year were: Veronika Hudeckova (silver); Tadas Sabaliauskas (silver); Stefan Ivanis (bronze); and Chris Walkey (bronze).

Looking ahead the club will take part in the Karate Kenpo European Championship in December in Budapest, Hungary, and a few months later, will attend the 8th All Styles World Championship in March 2018 in Portugal again and the ABC – UK team is ready to start the preparation and special training for these two particular events.

To become a member of the ABC team who represent the Academy, town and country, the students have to train hard in our kajukenbo self defence classes on Tuesdays and Fridays (7.30-8.30pm) at Swet FA.

There are new classes about to start at the beginning of September and also karate classes for children aged six and over. The classes will also be on Tuesdays and Fridays (6.30-7.30pm).

The door is always open for people who would like to join us for the self defence classes.
