WAMA Gym fights enjoyed a perfect record when all three won their fights at the Caged Stand and Strike event at the Winter Gardens.

The town’s first full-time martial arts and boxing academy, WAMA Gym, has been reignited in the town by its original founder Stuart Davies.

WAMA was born nearly 25 years ago and has an awesome track record in producing champions and providing top quality training and events in the town.

Caged Stand and Strike promoted by WAMA, held at the Winter Gardens was a great success. The show featured local and international fighters.

Team WAMA had an impressive evening with all three of their fighters winning by TKO and KO.

First up for the club was Mitchel Widlake, who is relatively new to the club and was in only his third contest. He threw a solid jab and right that dropped the more experienced fighter in the second round. who could not recover and was counted out.

Jon Thomas, one of the club’s veteran fighters, increased his winning streak with a polished performance, stopping his opponent in the second round.

Tegan Brier returned after a lengthy time out due to work commitments. She faced Sophie Gratton from ICB who came in over weight. Tegan’s work rate and focus to win overwhelmed the bigger fighter in the first round and the fight was stopped.

WAMA is situated in Sunnyside Road North next door to Frames Snooker Club. Anyone interested in training for all ages in boxing, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, mixed martial arts, kickboxing and Kenpo, please pop along for a free session.

WAMA also has a weights and fitness gym with membership from as little as £12.49 a month.
