Don't offer false promises

I'M SORRY to moan because I know the refuse collectors do a brilliant job, and this moan is not directed at them, but why oh why, when you phone the council to find out when your rubbish is likely to be collected, they fill you with false promises of 'today', and yes, all will be collected, rubbish, recycling and green waste?

The next phone call, several hours later, answered by another person amends the collection to 'green and rubbish only', but yes it will be 'today, extra lorries have been brought in'.

But here I am, with black bags outside my house (luckily I recycle so the refuse collectors won't have loads of bags to pick up from me), and a Christmas tree still waiting to be collected. My collection day was yesterday, it's now 5.30pm on Thursday so I will presume the phone calls made today were a waste of time.

Dear council, don't offer false promises to people, say it like it really is and you won't have lots of really cheesed off residents on the phone all the time. The next problem we'll have now is the temperature is rising so all the cats and birds will be pulling the bags of rotting rubbish apart and the council won't have the manpower to clear up a problem they have caused.
