What town needs is a park and ride

COUNCILLORS, please wake up to the fact that what Weston needs is a 'park and ride' not parking meters.

COUNCILLORS, please wake up to the fact that what Weston needs is a 'park and ride' not parking meters. There seems to be plenty of land available near the old airport so why not make use of this and prevent a gridlock which is bound to happen in the months ahead?Motorists will be put off coming to Weston if we keep on ignoring this most serious problem.Forget the parking meters, they will only add to the frustration of coming into town. We will have a population of 'clock-watchers' which I am sure will not please the shopkeepers who rely to a large extent on the motorists bringing their customers into town.Whilst on my soapbox I would like to say something about the Tropicana. Weston should convert the pool into a complex similar to Bridgwater's Splash. I took four of my grandchildren to the Splash last year and they considered it the best day of their holiday.Weston does not need the grandiose scheme that at present includes a hotel and cinema. Cinemas are closing all over the country and if you go into the Odeon in Weston most times, it is half empty. Why not design the new pool to include facilities for water polo and also make it available for schools in the winter months?Let's see some action.JOHN M TASKERBleadon
