One of the most highly anticipated films of 2018 is coming to Weston’s Odeon cinema next week, and you could win tickets to its first midnight screening.

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be shown at the Odeon, in The Centre, from May 24, with a midnight viewing taking place the same day.

Solo explores the adventures of a young Han Solo on board the Millennium Falcon on a journey to a galaxy far, far away.

The film is the second spin-off in the Star Wars franchise following Rogue One, and is set before Han’s appearance in Episode IV: A New Hope, which was released in 1977.

Taking on the iconic role, made famous by Harrison Ford, is Alden Ehrenreich.

Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), in a journey which will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

The film was initially going to be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, but the pair left the project in June 2017, with Ron Howard, of Apollo 13 fame, taking over.

Solo is expected to break box-office records in the UK for 2018, with pre-sale tickets already topping the number set by Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, the most commercially successful films of the year.

Solo also stars Woody Harrelson and British actors Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany.

The Mercury has teamed up with the Odeon to offer three lucky readers a pair of tickets each to the midnight screening on May 24.
