The much-loved musical Dreamboats and Petticoats is making its way to Weston’s Playhouse to celebrate 10 years of the popular compilation albums which inspired the show.

The albums of the same name have sold more than four million copies and their success prompted Bill Kenwright to create the musical, which is set to come to Weston as part of its national tour.

Dreamboats And Petticoats is set in 1961 and follows the story of young musicians Norman and Bobby. The two are up against each other to win a national song-writing competition – and win the affection of Sue.

However, Bobby’s eyes wonder as he discovers the lovely Laura and her talent.

This show explores the themes of love, rock ‘n’ roll and fame and is sure to have you singing along to a string of hits, which have appeared on the five Dreamboats and Petticoats albums.

Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is To Love Him, Shaking All Over and Let’s Twist Again are just a few of the tunes you can expect to see performed in Weston later this month.

Alistair Higgins will take on the role of Bobby, Alastair Hill is performing as Norman and Elizabeth Carter as Laura.

This show has proved a huge success in London’s West End and now venues across the country will be able to enjoy the show at its finest, complete with authentic 1960s costumes.

Dreamboats And Petticoats will be at The Playhouse. in High Street, from September 18-23 at 7.30pm each night, and 2.30pm on September 20 and 23.

Tickets, priced £28-33.50, are available by calling 01934 645544.
