THE popular actor, presenter and writer, Tony Robinson, will give an insight into his career during a special evening at Clevedon’s historic cinema.
Best known for presenting Channel 4’s archaeology series, Time Team, and for playing Baldrick in Blackadder, he will be at The Curzon Community Cinema on May 18.
The evening, which begins at 7.45pm, will see Tony interviewed by Clevedon filmmaker Niall Johnson before answering questions from the audience.
Although this will be Tony’s first public appearance at the Curzon, for which he is a patron, he can be heard providing the narration for the audio history available in the foyer.
Over the past 20 years, Tony has emerged as Britain’s foremost face of popular history as well as an actor and award-winning writer of children’s books and TV programmes.
He devised, wrote and starred in four series of the BBC’s Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, made two series of The Worst Jobs in History and has had lead roles in numerous other TV series. He has also created a number of documentaries on subjects ranging from the elderly to Macbeth and the Da Vinci Code to Robin Hood.
On becoming a patron of the Curzon he said: “The Curzon is an important part of our cinema heritage. But, it is no sense a museum. It is a living, breathing, modern community in use day in, day out.”
Tickets for An Evening with Tony Robinson, priced £10-12, are available from the box office on 01275 871000.
