THE film which arguably kick-started the teen movie craze in 1999 is back, with much of its original cast in American Pie: Reunion (15).
Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan and Seann William Scott take centre stage in another slice of teen-humour – with a twist.
The original film was a massive success, spawning a well-received sequel, before the series began to stagnate and cast members left.
Now, the original characters have gone away and grown up – some have married, others have grown apart – and when the gang get back together, it is just like old times.
The story – aside from a return to awkward mishaps – centres on married couple Jim (Biggs) and Michelle (Hannigan), whose relationship is in a rut as they attempt to raise a child.
Directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (Harold and Kumar), it is truly a return to the American Pie of old, rather than the tired later sequels.
Featuring the same mix of gross-out humour, sexual frustration and hilarious misunderstandings that propelled the original to such success, American Pie: Reunion is sure to get audiences laughing and cringing in equal measure, all over again.
