The Wells Festival of Literature will celebrate its 25th birthday this year.

A variety of international, national and local writers hope to entertain the crowds with their work and inspire any aspiring authors.

Speakers will read extracts from their books and answer questions about their inspiration at the festival next month.

The event promotes the love of books and reading and hopes to encourage guests to try something new.

Authors will include Daisy Goodwin, John McAvoy and Simon Jenkins, plus former Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, who will discuss points from his book Politics: Between The Extremes.

The Wells Festival Of Literature will be held at Bishop’s Palace, off Silver Street, from October 13-21, with events taking place at various times.
