THE ultra-successful Mrs Brown’s Boys hits the big time tomorrow (Fri) when it transfers to the big screen.
Feisty matriarch Agnes Brown (Brendan O’Carroll) brings with her fresh new mayhem and laughs in this joke-filled film.
Mrs Brown’s long-term plan to hand over her fruit and vegetables stall to daughter Cathy (Jennifer Gibney) hits a snag when a vast tax bill lands on her doormat.
Friends try to raise money through various challenges to help pay off her debts but soon she finds she is battling more than just the taxman.
Developers want to bulldoze the market where she makes her living and Mrs Brown embarks on the battle of her life to save her livelihood.
Fans of the television show will be unsurprised to hear that her efforts do not go smoothly thanks to a drunk solicitor, a barrister with Tourrette’s and some trainee ninjas making life a little bit awkward.
O’Carroll’s comic creation has won a BAFTA for its television series and the Dublin-shot film looks likely to prove equally successful.
n The Mercury has teamed up with the Odeon to offer three lucky winners the chance to win a pair of tickets and merchandise packs containing a mug, key chain, lanyard and bag. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning, is answer the following question: In which Irish city is the film set?
