CLASSIC American drama The Crucible will be screened at the Odeon – and the Mercury has two pairs of tickets to give away to winners.

Arthur Miller’s timeless play, based on the infamous Salem witch trials, tells the story of a tight-knit community in Salem, Massachusetts.

In a world where personal grievances collide with lust and superstition, hysteria ensues, and Miller’s parable attacks the evils of mindless persecution and the terrifying power of false accusations.

Richard Armitage, whose film and TV credits include the Hobbit trilogy, Captain America: The First Avenger and Spooks, will take on the leading role as John Proctor.

This performance of The Crucible was originally performed at the Old Vic theatre in London and will be screened at the Odeon on June 25, at 2pm.

Tickets, priced £6.50-10, are available from the box office on 0871 2244007 or online at

The Mercury has teamed up with the Odeon to offer two lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the screening.

Usual Archant rules apply and the editor’s decision is final.

By entering this competition you agree to be contacted by Archant.

The competition closes at 10am on June 19.
