An acclaimed singer and bassist who performed in a top-class acoustic band is forging a respectable solo career, and will perform in the South West next month.

Miranda Sykes will take to the stage at Bristol’s 1532 Performing Arts, in Elton Road, on February 9 at 8pm.

Sykes possesses a beautiful voice and a masterful touch on the strings of her double bass.

She joined Devon acoustic duo Show Of Hands in the 2000s, adding a new dimension to the folk band’s music.

But she has since gone solo, and is touring after the release of her debut album Borrowed Places, which is inspired by the sights and sounds of her native Lincolnshire.

Sykes’ Bristol performance will also offer fans a sneak peak at new material which will feature on a record due for release in 2019.

Tickets for this show, priced £12, are available from 01172 591532 or online via www.1532bristol.co.uk
