A top Scottish rock band will showcase their skills on a South West stage this week.

Celtic rockers Skerryvore will perform at Bristol’s boat-based music venue Thekla, in The Grove, on Sunday at 7.30pm.

The band originates from the tiny Hebridean island of Tiree, but their journey as a group has taken them across the globe showcasing the sounds of Scottish folk-rock music.

BBC Radio 2’s folk music guru Mark Radcliff has described the eight-piece band as ‘the sound of young Scots power folk’, promising the Thekla audience a night of enthralling, high-energy musicianship.

All eight members bring something different to the group, which often pursues experimental sounds by blending a wide range of genres such as the Cajun tunes of the American South with traditional Scottish folk music.

Tickets for this show, priced £18.50, are available from 01158 964456 or online via www.theklabristol.com
