A Weston choir hit the right note when it performed its debut concert in Yatton at the weekend.

The Costanzi Consort provided an uplifting concert packed full of 18th century Italian songs to the delight of the St Mary’s Church audience.

The choir is directed by Uphill musician Peter Leech.

Dr Leech said: “We’re on the map now and the precedent for innovative, vibrant programming has been set.”

Setting up a North Somerset-based choir had been a desire of his for some time and Dr Leech is happy with Costanzi’s debut showing.

Their concert drew praise from Churchill Music! too.

Its administrator Jan Murray said: “Costanzi Consort’s inaugural concert was a feast of unexpected delights.

“Dr Leech’s mission is to bring unknown, and under-appreciated composers into the spotlight. He certainly accomplished this and whetted our appetites for more.”

Constanzi’s next concert will be on December 9 at 7.30pm at the same venue.
