THE Winter Gardens in Weston will be transformed into the ultimate party venue this year to allow revellers to see in the new year in style. Music lovers are in for a treat as the fabulous 10-piece band Soul Solution perform live, with experienced radio DJ Steve Carpenter spinning the discs with a festive disco.Fronted by impressive vocalists and backed by a talented team of musicians, Soul Solution deliver an explosive blend of classics from the legends of soul, plus plenty of disco and pop favourites.The band's repertoire includes classics from the hit films The Blues Brothers and The Commitments such as Shake A Tail Feather, Soul Man, Mustang Sally, Try A Little Tenderness, Mr Pitiful, Take Me To The River and In The Midnight Hour. Steve Carpenter's infectious laugh has entertained radio listeners on a range of different stations. After a long career at DevonAir Radio in Exeter, Steve joined Orchard FM in 1992, where his afternoon show was one of the most listened to shows in the UK in its timeslot. Since then Steve has worked on Classic Gold, been programme controller for Weston's first commercial radio station WFM and worked on BBC Radio Devon. The event runs until 12.30pm, and has a fully licensed bar and the evening includes a light supper.Tickets, priced £26, are available from the box office on 01934 645544.
