A South West-based orchestra will perform a spring concert next week.

The West Mendip Orchestra will be at Christchurch in Chapel Hill, Clevedon, on March 16.

The group will play some of the best music created by English composers.

Orchestra secretary Paul Hubbard said: “We shall be playing an attractive programme of music from English composers, starting with the Overture to The Gondoliers by Sullivan and ending with Walton’s dramatic Spitfire prelude and fugue.

“The concert also includes music by Butterworth, Holst, Arnold and Coates as well as Delius’s evergreen A Walk To The Paradise Garden and Nimrod from the Enigma Variations by Elgar.”

Director of music Nicholas Bromilow and leader Helen Grey will front the show.

The concert will start at 7.45pm.

Tickets, priced £2-10, are available on the door.
