Choral music fans are in for a treat this weekend in Yatton thanks to a Weston organisation.

The Costanzi Consort group, conducted by Dr Peter Leech, will be performing their Eternal City concert at St Mary’s Church on Sunday.

Their audience can look forward to a range of high-calibre classical compositions from 18th century Rome, with works by Domenico Scarlatti and Pitoni set to be performed.

Dr Leech said it had always been an ambition to set up a mixed-voice chamber choir in Weston.

He said: “I have always felt confident that North Somerset and its environs could produce a fine, enterprising and ambitious chamber choir.”

New tenor Clare Atyeo said: ”I was amazed by how great we sounded and how much we achieved during our initial open singing day.”

The concert will begin at 6pm.

Tickets, priced £4.50-10.80 plus booking fee, are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk or www.constanziconsort.org.uk
