Sian Evans

A Welsh singer known for being the voice of a popular drum and bass group will perform in Weston-super-Mare this month.

Sian Evans will be at The Electric Banana in Oxford Place on March 31.

Sian became a household name in dance music circles during the 2000s with Kosheen, an electronic group who earned two UK top-10 albums during the decade.

More recently she has worked with some of the biggest artists in the country including teaming up with DJ Fresh to write and record the 2011 number one hit Louder.

The song became notable for being the first dubstep song to reach number one in the UK Singles Chart and has since gone on to win numerous awards including the Urban Music Award for best dance single.

Sian also wrote Hot Right Now for Rita Ora, securing the British artist her first ever number one song.

Other artists who have benefited from Sian’s talent include Jolyon Petch, Chicane, EZ Rollers and Dr Meaker.

Her succes has allowed her to travel around the world to perform sell-out shows in the USA, Australia, Japan and Russia, as well as at numerous UK and European festivals.

During the Weston gig, Sian will be expertly supported by band Future Dub Orchestra, who will help perform new material, collaborations and hits from her days with Kosheen.

Doors to The Electric Banana will open at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £12, are available here.
