A show charting Brian Clough’s ill-fated tenure in charge of Leeds United will be performed in Bristol.
The Damned United has been adapted from David Peace’s novel, staging Clough’s 44-day period as manager.
It combines fiction, fact and hearsay to bring audiences close to the sweat, fury and pitch-side power struggles.
Artistic director Rod Dixon said: “The Damned United has it all – passion, power struggles, tragedy and a classic anti-hero in Clough – which lends itself brilliantly to theatre.
“Audiences are given a fascinating insight into the troubled but brilliant mind of a flawed genius – who to this day, remains one of the most controversial figures in sporting history.”
The Damned United will be performed at the Tobacco Factory Theatre from Wednesday to June 2 at 7.30pm.
