The Chicago Blues Brothers will present a high-energy tribute to the Blues Brothers in a show featuring 40 hit songs.

Chris Hindle and Gareth Davey will front the nine-piece band in Motown Mission as they perform many songs which were featured in the Blues Brothers films alongside some Motown classics.

The Blues Brothers are an American band founded by comedy actors Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as part of a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live.

Their act spawned a 1980s comedy film, The Blues Brothers, starring Carrie Fisher, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.

Hindle said: “One of the things I love about being a Chicago Blues Brother is the chance to carry on the legacy of the legendary Belushi as Jake Blues.

“He was a crazy, funny guy who was unpredictable and wild – very much like me.

“Motown Mission is a great show.

“We perform original music from the Blues Brothers films as well as many hits from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s and wherever we go, audiences know most of the numbers – it’s a total blast from start to finish.”

Hindle and Davey will be joined on stage by vocalists and a brass section.

Hindle trained at the De Costa Academy of Singing in York and is the producer of the Chicago Blues Brothers.

Davey was a solo artist before joining the show, and he possesses a rare vocal range alongside his talent for dancing.

The performance will feature a Blues Brothers set, as they capture the energy, humour and characters which propelled the 1980s film to worldwide fame.

Hindle said: “This is something new, it’s never been done before in Blues Brothers history.

“The band were basically a cover band, and we are a cover band of a cover band, so we decided to take on some of Motown’s biggest hits and combine them with the Blues Brothers’ biggest classics to create a non-stop two-hour party.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my creation and production come to life and I can’t wait to see the public’s reaction.”

Motown Mission will be at The Playhouse, in High Street, Weston, on September 21 at 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £24.50, are available at or from 01934 645544.
