Former EastEnders star John Partridge is making his way to Highbridge and will perform and pass on his musical theatre wisdom to both children and adults next month.

Partridge is best known for his portrayal of Christian Clarke in the long-running BBC soap but has since made a name for himself in the world of musical theatre.

He has performed in many shows over the past few years including Grease, Chicago, Rent and Starlight Express.

Most recently, Patridge has been playing Za Za in the UK tour of La Cage Aux Folles.

Churchfield School, in Burnham Road, Highbridge, will play host to the workshop, which is in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.

As well as teaching juniors and adults one of the scenes from La Cage, Partridge is also hosting a question and answer, where you can find out everything you have ever wanted to know about performing on the small screen and on the big stage.

This event comes two years after Partridge first held a workshop in Highbridge.

Siobham Johnson, who runs her own singing school, told the Mercury she is ‘privileged’ to have been able to organise a return.

She said: “John took a workshop two years ago with us that proved so successful and was just so much fun as he brought so much enjoyment to those he taught with his infectious, charming and flamboyant personality.

“We are so privileged and honoured to have him back again this year especially as he will come straight off the back of his La Cage UK Tour.

“He will be bringing a touch of the West End back to the South West.”

John Partridge will be at the school for two workshops on September 9, one for people aged eight to 18 from 10am-12.30pm and one for adults from 2pm-4.30pm.

Each workshop will run for two hours, with the last 30 minutes set aside for the question and answer session.

There will also be a chance to get a photo with the man himself.

If you like performing or singing and would like to take part in either of the workshops, contact Siobhan Johnson on 01278 751115 or 07855 642641.
