Joanne Clifton will star in the lead role in Flashdance when it arrives at the Bristol Hippodrome next year.

The Strictly Come Dancing champion will play 18-year-old Alex Owens, a welder by day and dancer by night.

She dreams of going to the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy and becoming a professional dancer.

When a romance complicates things, she uses it to drive her dream forward.

Clifton has already started performing on the show, but it has been confirmed she will continue in 2018.

Clifton said: “I am having the best time ever on this tour and so am delighted to be staying on for 2018.

“We have so much fun on stage and off, and I really am dancing like I’ve never danced before.”

Flashdance will be shown at the Bristol Hippodrome from June 25-30 next year.

Tickets, priced £20-59.40, are available from www.atgtickets.com/venues/bristol-hippodrome or by calling 08448 713012.
