A spontaneous musical will be created from scratch at a Weston-super-Mare theatre, promising a mix of comedy and catchy melodies.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical won an Olivier Award last year in the best entertainment and family show categories.

This recognition followed nine years running as a must-see show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a BBC Radio 4 series and a West End run.

The performers ensure audiences will see a one-of-a-kind show no-one else will ever watch by creating the comedy musical from scratch every time.

Audience suggestions are transformed on the spot into an all-singing, all-dancing production with unpredictable and hilarious results.

Performers have been working on the show since 2008 and have perfected how to improvise in different styles, including theatre and dance.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical will be performed at The Playhouse, in High Street, on September 29 at 7.30m.

Tickets, priced £15-22, are available on 01934 645544 or from the website www.theplayhouse.co.uk

The Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse to offer two lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets show.

The competition closes at 10am on August 25. Usual Archant rules apply and the editor’s decision is final.
