The Searchers to make their way to Weston-super-Mare

PUBLISHED: 20:00 11 August 2017

A popular 1960s band are set to rock Weston’s Playhouse Theatre – and you could win tickets thanks to our competition.

The Searchers have had a remarkably successful career, first arriving on the music scene back in 1959.

Their Liverpool roots put them in good company with The Beatles and they even had a hit in the United States with Needles And Pins.

It has been rather a roller coaster for the band over the past five decades, with a few changes occurring as a result of some in-band politics and varying circumstances.

However, this has not stopped them having a string of hits which will be performed in Weston.

These include Sweets For My Sweet, Don’t Throw Your Love Away, Sugar And Spice and When You Walk In The Room.

These records – and their many more – sold more than 50million copies and this stop in the South West is just one of their global tours, which they still undertake regularly.

The show will also include some anecdotes from their time in the spotlight and has been a hit all over the world.

There will also be a chance to hear some cover songs and a number of B-side singles, which some fans may not have heard frequently.

But there is no doubt the band will have you on your feet dancing to their biggest and best hits.

The Searchers will be at The Playhouse, in High Street, on August 23 at 7.30pm,

Tickets, priced £23, are available by calling 01934 645544 or online via
