An award-winning pair of Weston-based storytellers will use puppetry and live music to bring to life a tale of bravery and adventure at Theatre Shop.

The Tale Of The Cockatrice is written and performed by Mumblecrust Theatre, a group set up in 2016 by friends Anthony Burbridge and Katie Underhay.

The pair took their first show to Brighton Fringe Festival in the summer where they picked up the awards for Best Newcomer And Best Children and Families Show.

Katie said: “We have got a fantastic, award-winnning show that we are so excited to show everyone.

“It is an original piece of family theatre full of storytelling, puppetry, live music and general tomfoolery.

“A young nun, Sister Mary-Ann, discovers a deadly cockatrice – a monster which can kill any living creature with its deadly stare.

“We wanted to create something sophisticated and scary, atmospheric and meaningful, which the whole family will enjoy.

“2017 has brought so many opportunities which have paved the way for a bright future for the company.

“The awards we have won have brought in lots of interest from theatres, and our show at Theatre Shop in Clevedon is just the beginning of our national tour.

“Hopefully the show will tour for many years to come and in the meantime we will create our next production.”

The Tale Of The Cockatrice will be performed at Theatre Shop in Queens Square, Clevedon, at 11am and 2pm on December 28 and 29.
