CONGRESBURY OVER-60’S CLUB: Members were delighted to welcome local plant specialist Don Everitt who gave a most interesting talk on ‘Herbs and fragrant plants’. The excellent selection of slides had something for everyone as he illustrated the many traditional plants from herbs such as the large varieties of thyme and various mints to plants such as clary and soapwort, valerian and evening primrose which were used as medicines by our forbears.

Camomile could also be used as a lawn because of its spreading habit and many old favourites such as sage, chives, lemon balm, parsley and bay are very popular and can still be found in the garden of today.

Afterwards members were able to take advantage of the very good selection of inexpensive plants for sale.
