A MUSICAL extravaganza will take place in Weston this summer – and you can take your own picnic and settle down to enjoy it.

The Mercury is giving away 10 pairs of evening tickets and five sets of family day tickets (for four) to the Clarence Park Family Fun Day and Abba and Rock ‘n’ Roll Night on August 25.

The afternoon event runs from noon until 4.30pm when there will be bouncy castles, a carousel, funfair stalls, clowns, face painters, a disco, food outlets, a drinks tent and a Steps tribute band.

The evening events runs from 6-10pm and two tribute bands will entertain the crowds - Counterfeit Abba and Good Rocking Tonight.

There will be food and drink available, but people can take their own picnics, with alcohol, and chairs.

The ticket prices for the day event are £8 for adults, £5 for children, £15 for a family of three or £20 for a family of four.

In the evening the tickets are £13 for adults and children, but if you go to both events the evening tickets are £10. Tickets can be bought via or from Andy on 07749 422482.

They are also available from the following Weston businesses: Darrell’s the Butchers in High Street, Connie’s in Waterloo Street, The Tourist Information Centre in the Winter Gardens and The Print Shop in Whitecross Road.

Until July 14 if you buy two evening tickets, you will get a family ticket for four people for the day free of charge.

Organisers are hoping to raise £3,000 on the day for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides a ‘home away from home’ for families with children in hospital, somewhere free to stay for as long as they need to.

There are currently 15 Ronald McDonald Houses and more than 25 sets of family rooms across the UK, all just a stone’s throw from the children’s ward.

To be in with a chance of winning a set of tickets to the event answer the following question: The event hopes to raise £3,000 for which charity?

Send you answer, along with a day time telephone number to Clarence Park competition, Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury, 32 Waterloo Street, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1LW by 9am on July 27. PLEASE STATE WHETHER YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENTER FOR DAY TIME OR EVENING TICKETS.

Usual Archant rules apply and the editor’s decision is final.
