Jazz funk legends competition

A HUGELY successful jazz funk band, Shakatak are set to storm into Weston this month - and you could win tickets.
The four-piece enjoyed 12 UK chart entries in the 1980s, including Night Birds and Down On The Street.
Now the band - featuring all four original members Bill Sharpe, Jill Saward, Roger Odell and George Anderson - are coming to The Playhouse.
Because their music is both infectious and individual, the band enjoys both cult status and instant recognition as a household name.
Their long run success of was brought to a temporary halt when guitarist Keith Winter became seriously ill and was forced to stop playing.
But he recovered and now works behind the scenes on the band’s web design team.
Eventually the band reorganised themselves and the remaining four original members now augment their shows with Jacqui Hicks or Debbie Bracknell and Alan Wormald.
