The Weston & Somerset Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse, Weston, to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of tickets to see the show.

AN EXHILARATING show will rock the foundations of The Playhouse, Weston, later this month.The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers will bring their energy and enthusiasm to the venue on May 24.The group, which is steeped in the ancient traditions of Taiko - Japanese drumming - has earned a reputation as one of Europe's foremost Taiko drum ensembles.During the show delicate flute, gentle bells and percussion sounds will be interwoven with the sounds of big, powerful, drums.Mugenkyo was established in 1994 when the group returned to Britain following two years of intensive training on the west coast of Japan.The group performs in over 100 concerts a year at theatres, arts centres and festivals throughout the UK, Europe and Japan.Mugenkyo appeared on the Brit Awards with Queen and Five in 2000, as well as The Generation Game, The James Whale Show, The Kelly Show and UK Today.The musicians have also appeared at Glastonbury Festival, the Cork Jazz Festival and The Henley Festival.Tickets, priced £8.50-14, are available from the box office on 01934 645544.The Weston & Somerset Mercury has teamed up with The Playhouse, Weston, to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of tickets to see the show.To enter, please answer the following question:What is the name of the Japanese art that the group bases its performance on?Closes: May 18 (9am).Usual Archant Regional Ltd rules apply and the editor's decision is final.
