Weston-super-Mare's Tropicana will host a play telling the tale of a former darts champion who had his talent tragically taken away from him.

Rex The King will be performed at Theatre Tropicana, in Marine Parade, on May 24 at 8pm.

The show tells the story of a Somerset-born darts champion who rose to the top of the game and had the world at his mercy – but dark secrets led to his world falling apart in front of him.

Now blind, Rex walks into bars and tells unconvinced punters that he was once the king of darts.

Over a few pints, Rex retells his tale for anyone who will listen – taking them through the joyous highs and devastating lows of his life.

Tickets for this show, priced £10, are available from Tobacco Factory Theatres on 01179 020344 or online via
