THE flood waters may be receding for now, but many in North Somerset have been left to count the cost of flood damage after heavy rainfall lashed the district.

A total of 73.5 millimetres fell in the area from 8am yesterday (Sun) to 8am this morning (Mon) and many roads have been rendered impassable by the huge amount of water.

Communities across the district have been affected by the flooding, and our photographer Mark Atherton has been out across the area capturing images of the chaos that has ensued.
