I WAS not reassured by your article in the North Somerset Times, November 12 2008 where Councillor Elfan Ap Rees envisaged selling the site of the open air pool for a restaurant.

I read your report and whilst he said only one of the options was to 'redevelop the site', it is also the only one he recommends. The other options he dismissed out of hand.

To replace a fun for all the family sporty activity with a middle class couch potato eatery is offensive. A 'nice quality restaurant and pub' offers our children nothing.

If people want to sit and eat and drink and look at the channel, they can do that all day at the Windmill - or are you suggesting that's not 'quality'.

If one pool is enough, one pub should be.

One of the delights of the open air pool is enjoying the views from the terraces of the ships rounding the bend. They are clearly visible so I don't know why he says 'you can't see anything from the pool'.

Please show me how he plans to extend Parish Wharf.

How can a children's pool be built at Parish Wharf when the main pool already borders the road? Does he plan extending the gym into the already packed car park?

I would be interested in his reply to my concerns.
