HOW short-sighted of the licensing committee of North Somerset to turn down the application for a continental market on the Italian Gardens. These markets draw people into the town and boost the trade in general to the benefit of all shop keepers. Many towns in England have very successful markets that help to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the area they operate, encouraging people into an area they would not normally go. They also discourage antisocial behaviour.I hope they will think again and listen to public opinion and not just one objector.RON MOON - The Saffrons, Weston
