NOT for the first time, I was incensed to read that our beloved Playhouse is under threat yet again, not to mention shutting down libraries and cutting funds in other needy areas. I do wonder why it is that when money has to be saved the most vulnerable are always subject to attack. And why save money if, as rumour has it, there is a stash of unspent money lying there doing nothing? I strongly object to the tunnel vision that appears to dominate council decisions. When will the message get through? Weston needs a theatre. It generates a lot of income for us, is an attraction that people take into consideration when coming down here on holiday, and enhances the lives of those of us who live here. Let's face it. We have no decent swimming pool, yet the Tropicana lies empty and Birnbeck Pier is abandoned and falling into the sea. Both these are issues that could have been avoided using a bit of foresight and planning and seeing the bigger picture. Selling the Playhouse would be a final nail in Weston's deteriorating coffin. For goodness sake, use a bit of intelligence and planning and use the resources we have. It isn't rocket science!MS J M MASSA - Bristol Road Lower, Weston
