As a keen amateur musician and supporter of performing arts, I would like to give my backing to the idea featured in the Portishead Times of November 7 (that of converting the current library to an arts centre).I have been playing the bassoon for the Nailsea Concert Orchestra, which has a mainly classical repertoire, for seven years. It is a relatively small ensemble, but of a good standard, and we have been looking to perform concerts in North Somerset towns, other than Nailsea, for several years. To date there has been very little opportunity to perform in my home town of Portishead, but this idea for a new concert venue gives me hope for the future. I believe the centre, if marketed effectively, would definitely fill a gap in the market. Steven Cox - Portishead
