FOR Cllr John Ley-Morgan to say that Cllr Bell's only interest in the town council is as a platform for his wider ambitions to be Weston's MP is ridiculous.Mike Bell was elected to the town council for Central Ward in 2000, seven years ago when Lib Dem Brian Cotter was the MP and the latter was elected again in 2001.When any resident had a query or a complaint Mike would always reply and usually visit them in their own home. When the £10,000 grant for Uphill Village Society was proposed, Mike was supportive of this but the Conservatives voted against it. This grant is subject to a yearly review. Mike was enthusiastic about a Youth Council being formed, but most Conservatives were against it.When the Conservatives were in control of the town council they shut the play area in Grove Park, rather than repair it. Since the Lib Dems have been in charge play areas have been enhanced and more created although a lot of Conservatives were against. There are many instances of Mike working hard for Weston. Also do not forget town councillors do not get paid.MRS J HOW - Connaught Place, Weston
